Each Person’s a River

Rivers change.
The bends and banks
Build and erode
With each passing year.
The constant flow
Leaves impressions and silt,
Or running dry,
You can never visit
The same river twice.

I used to believe
People never changed,
We merely aged
In straight, narrow lines
But we, just like rivers,
Are constantly changing.
Picking up life experience
Wearing down from stress.
We can overflow with emotion
And be drained from it too.
We may keep our name
But we’re never the same.

Each person’s a river,
Unique and ever changing;
Affecting life on every shore
For the better
Or for the worse.

I am, by no means, a professional writer. I have no dreams of becoming such. I just enjoy writing in my very sparse free time, both poetry and short stories. If you enjoy any of my works in particular, feel free to tell me. I always enjoy the feedback.
